Thank you for assisting with evaluation and feedback for the teams.
We invite your evaluation of the pitches you’ve seen which will be used with application data to provide 1:1 feedback to help the teams develop. We ask you to score out of 10 on various dimensions to the business you’ve seen.

How evaluator score work

You should use the following scoring system:

  • 10 for spectacular, high-quality
  • 5 for average
  • 1 for poor
  • 0 did not cover dimension

We average the scores from today by judges, coaches and visitors as well as application assessments to join the pitch programme and peer scores to provide a quantitative radar scores. Your comments help to form the qualitative feedback report.

Does it sound and feel exciting? Is it distinct and differentiated? Does the expression of the proposition feel interesting? Are they any patents granted or applied for? How protectable is the proposition? What ‘eco-system’ needs to be in place around the direct business to make the idea work?
Does the business model generate significant cost or value advantages compared to its competitors? Does the business model generate early cash or require little working capital? Does the business control or own resources that create a unique strength? Are their identified economies of scale and ways to achieve them? Is the business self-sufficient, or dependent on other parties? Are there attractive gross margins? Is there a clear path to net-profitability? Does the business have a handle on cash-flow and a clear way to manage it? Is there a clear plan for how funding will be invested? Is there realistic exit potential within 7 years? Are there funding and exit benchmarks? Are there clear measures in place appropriate for the growth stage and sector?
Are they experienced in their market space? Have they proven expertise in the areas needed to make the business model work? Has any of the team a track record of growing a business? Are they balanced with different strengths? Are they aware of gaps in the team, and have a plan to bridge the gaps? Are they versatile and open minded to external help? Are they ambitious, driven and tenacious? Do they work well together? Can they make decisions and prioritise? Are there clear objectives and plans to execute against? Are the team clear and compelling communicators? Are the team responsive?
Has it been well defined? Is the market insight strong? Are there mechanisms to gather insight about customers? Is the immediate launch market space large enough to build scale? Is the potential wider market space large enough to build a significant business? Is it local, national or global? Is it fast-growing? Is it fragmented? Is it ripe for disruption? Has it space for new entrants? Is increased competition from new entrants likely? Are others (new entrants or incumbents) likely to observe and exploit the same opportunity? Will incumbents react aggressively to new entrants?
Has any noise/news already been generated? Have the pitch documents/videos shown ability to articulate well & capture the imagination? Are the team articulate, clear & compelling communicators? Is there a strong marketing plan? Are there early proof points for how the brand / idea can be marketed cost effectively? Is there evidence that customer acquisition costs will be lower than the lifetime value of a customer?
Add any comments, recommendation, tips, concerns or anything else you feel useful for the firm.
